Nabihah Iqbal — "This World Couldn’t See Us"

London-born Nabihah Iqbal is a force contemporary music culture to be reckoned with. The accomplished musician pulled up to Phoenix Central Park having helmed the DJ booth only the night before, consistent with an unceasing six months of touring her celebrated LP ‘DREAMER’.

For her Live at Phoenix, Iqbal effortlessly performs her spoken word forward single “This World Couldn’t See Us” with multi-instrumentalist Al Hewett, bathed in the shimmery glow of vintage theatre lights under the direction of Arundati Thandur. Dazzling synth lines and saturated guitars evoke melancholic shoegaze, her pulsating drum machine a driving foil. Iqbal breaks the forth wall with disaffected glances while delivering droll stanzas, evoking ennui and love lost amidst a relentless world.
